Within her egg, the hatchling was dreaming of her first flight.
Her golden wings filled the sky and she gained altitude with each stroke. The ground was far below, out of her sight as she flew higher into the clouds. The sun warmed her hide and dared her to fly higher than any bird. But it blinked out of sight as she was suddenly engulfed in a cloud. She roared as the cold brushed her hide but she shook it off with a thought. It wasn’t as cold as between.
Between?
That’s when she realized the dream was not her own but simply memories fed to her by her mother,
